Matatabi is a deciduous climbing plant grown in the mountains of China and Japan and is one of Asia's most popular cat treats. Discover it in its finely ground powdered version, to rub on your beloved feline's toys and scratching posts.

Twice as strong as catnip, acting as a natural stimulant, it makes your cat extremely playful. Don't worry if you see your cat rolling around, licking, or even drooling. Simply use it on your cat's favorite toy or piece of furniture and let the fun begin.

Matatabi Catnip Powder: An even more intense alternative to classic catnip!

Matatabi: What does it do and how does it work?

Many cats respond to Matatabi (the vine of the Silvervine plant) even if they show little interest in catnip. A 2017 scientific study found that 70% of cats responded to catnip, but over 80% of cats responded to silvervine, and many cats enjoy both!

Matatabi is a native plant found in Japan and Southeast Asia. It has been used as a medicinal plant since ancient times. In Japan, Matatabi is used as a magical remedy for all cat ailments.

If your cat has low energy, a poor appetite, or is stressed, you can give them some Matatabi. Simply shake the bottle two or three times and add the powder directly to their food three times a day, or sprinkle the powder on cat toys or scratching posts to keep your cat happy and excited.

How is Matatabi powder made?

We select only the best parts of the Matatabi plant at the peak of the season, ensuring optimal product quality. Our Matatabi is 100% natural, with no preservatives or artificial ingredients.

To make our Matatabi catnip, we finely grind natural, untreated segments of the vine called Actinindia Polygama, native to the mountains of East Asia. Although relatively unknown in France, the silver vine plant is used more by cat owners in Japan and China than traditional catnip!

They're finely ground to make the perfect "marinade" for toys. Just rub a pinch or two on a toy, and you'll get the same effects you get with Matatabi sticks, now easy to use with other favorite toys!

Packaging

Matatabi catnip is packaged in an airtight tube, so the aroma is preserved and the catnip won't interfere with the scent of the packaging. The tube contains approximately 45 ml of Matatabi silver vine powder.

Matatabi: what are the effects?

The effects last between 5 and 30 minutes.

In general, Matatabi has a better effect on cats than catnip because it contains two active ingredients and catnip only contains one. Typical cat behaviors on silver vine include rolling, rubbing their chin and cheeks, meowing, drooling, and licking.

Some cats become kitten-like while playing with their toys. Others will be more relaxed and drift into a dreamy state. Cats usually begin to react when they are over 6 months old, but some may do so earlier.

Not all cats react the same way to the essential oils of each plant. Their preference is based on genetics, their mood, the day, and how they like to play. If you're not sure what your cat likes, our pack (sticks + powder) is a great way to try it all out and see what your cat likes best!
